RIVER TRIP INFORMATION
During the summer, there are several river trips that the club goes on. Some are part of rendez-vous put on by the local clubs, and others are geared towards beginners or kids. There is a trip for everyone! The majority of trips go out to the Brierlies rapids out by Rocky Mountain house, since it is the closest river and provides a great variety of features for the beginner to the advanced paddler. Some of rivers that have been paddled in the past are the Red Deer, Sulphur, Whirlpool, Kananaskis, Old Man, Castle, Brazeau and the lower Maligne to name a couple. Not all are done in one year through organised club trips, but are certainly great rivers to paddle. The Pembina river just west of Edmonton is used as the introduction to moving water for people coming out of the winter pool sessions. It allows for people to get the feel for eddy lines and moving water. Hope to see you out on river next summer! Be sure to check the calendar for your favourites!
