Cup of the North International Canoe Polo Tournament,


- February 20, 21 & 22 Kinsmen Pool, Edmonton (9100 Walterdale Hill)
- Registration Deadline is February 1st., 2009. Registration Fee is $375 Cdn per Team (up to eight players).
- After February 1st (late entry) Fee is $425 Cdn
- Entry fee includes; tournament, commemorative T-shirt and dinner
- Two Divisions, Recreational & Competitive (16 team maximum)
- Tournament Games: Saturday 8 am to 10 pm; Sunday 8 am to 4 pm Awards to follow and then Wrap Social Dinner 6 pm to 8 pm.
- Friday 7 pm to 10 pm Team Checkin (practice if no games need to be played
- Polo Equipment is provided if necessary.

For Visiting Teams Accomodation: A Community Hall will be available for billets (Cost is $15 per person per night). Pre registration and payment for this accomodation is required (number of persons and dates required).


YOUTH,


Have you completed the youth intro course, or know how to paddle? Are you interested in improving your skills? If you answered yes to the above questions EWP is for you, we have three Friday sessions Dec 5, 12 & 19 (8 to 10 PM at the Kinsmen Pool. In these sessions through a variety of games and activities we will improve your kayaking skills and teach you more advanced skills. The Cost is only $30 for EWP members. To register see Chris on Dec 5 at 7:45 on the pool deck, just bring your money. There is no limit on the number of participants.

EWP is looking to improve the youth skills so we can hold a wave pool session for some kayak surfing in the new year.

Edmonton Whitewater Paddlers Kayak Instruction Programs

EWP Refund Policy: Membership is not refunded. Cancellation of course registration closer than one week to course start is not refunded. Earlier cancellation; refund or rebook – your choice.

Registration is confirmed ONLY with payment received. Minimum SIX registrations required to run course.

Course costs include basic equipment for kayaking. EWP Membership paid once per calendar year is required and included in course costs.

Learning the Game and Building Your Skills

Please contact Dale or drop in for $10 to a Friday session Nov 7, 14, 21, 28; Dec 5, 12, 19.

Polo is a great opportunity to practice kayaking skills and have fun while playing a game. To actually start playing you should have entry level kayak skills. Be comfortable balancing your boat, be able to paddle forward and backward and maneuver the kayak sideways and by turning in either direction. In addition you should be comfortable with a capsize to exit or receive a T – rescue.
Throwing and catching a water polo ball also are important accessory skills.

Thursday Evenings beginning November 6 till December 18; 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm
Dates include: Nov 6, 13, 21 & 30 and December 4, 11 & 18 (seven sessions)
Individual Equipment, including polo kayak, sprayskirt, pfd, helmet and paddle will be provided if needed included in the session cost.

The general format of Thursday evenings will be to be on the water at 8:30 pm, have 30 minutes of warm up and then divide into equal teams and play games for the remainder of the time. All levels of experience play together. Each game will be 20 minutes. Players not involved in games will be expected to help referee. At the end of the session everyone is expected to be involved in equipment take down and pulling in the lane markers. No one should be leaving till these jobs are done.
